I had an "I'm old" moment yesterday when I received a high school graduation announcement from a kid I used to babysit. Even though his older brother graduated two years ago, this one just seemed to hit me a little harder. I'm sure when the last of the brothers graduates, it'll be worse. When I called my dad last night and told him I was going to call Clem to tell her that he's graduating, he said, "Clem, the 19 year old who attends UCSD?" Yes, that one, brat. I know, I know, I'm old.

Clem is applying for a different study abroad program. Instead of the one in Bordeaux, she's applying for one in Paris. It's a cultural immersion program which includes classes at the Sorbonne and La Cordon Bleu and allows her to have a minor in French culture to go with her double majors of political sciences and international affairs. Sounds impressive.

I'm taking the afternoon off. I was going to on Wednesday, but some things came up so I postponed to today. I have so much stuff to do that I may take another afternoon off next week. Tomorrow, I'm helping out at a graduation reception and then have to go to a graduation party. There's a party for the new very large grant on Sunday. I don't expect very many people to attend since it's Mother's Day, but I may go. Of course at this point, all I know is that there is something in the works. If I don't hear anything before I leave, perhaps I'll have an out.
