Change of plans for last weekend. The original plan was that I'd be home this weekend. Go to the puppy shower on Saturday, maternity clothes shopping for Michelle in Spokane on Sunday, and deep Fall cleaning on the house on Monday. Next weekend, my grandfather and his wife and my dad were supposed to come down to see me.
Instead, I got a call Saturday morning from my dad telling me that my grandfather's wife had chest pains during the night and they took her to the hospital at 4:00 in the morning. Since it was more than likely that they would just go home instead of coming to see me, it was arranged that I would go up to see them at my dad's after the shower. She was supposed to be getting out of the hospital on Sunday.
I went up after the shower, got there about 6:30pm, ate dinner, talked to my grandfather and dad, and went to bed. At 2:15am, we get a call from the hospital -- the answering machine is in my room so I heard the whole conversation between the nurse and my dad -- she woke up with chest pains and the small hospital doesn't have the technology to treat or test so she was being helicoptered to Coeur d'Alene.
We get up and drive to the hospital, see her off in the helicopter, and drive the hour to Cd'A. Hang around for a couple of hours, go to breakfast (still only 5:00am), go back to the hospital...To make a long story short (or is it too late?), we get back to Sandpoint at 8:30, my grandfather packs up the RV and drives down to Cd'A.
The thought was that although she didn't have a heart attack, her heart was gearing up for one so after many, many tests, they found nothing and released her late Monday morning. My grandparents called to say that she was being released in a couple of hours and would hit the road, they called again Tuesday morning to say that they'd decided to stay overnight in the RV int he hospital parking lot. If I'd have known that, I would have stopped by on my way through Cd'A. As it was, though, I stopped at the mall and didn't get home until 6:00.
Other than that, good weekend. I was an hour late to the shower since I hadn't been planning on an emergency load of laundry and packing. One of the women left 30 minutes after I got there and it was all down hill from there. At least I wasn't forced to play any games.
Oh, and I saw one of the worst movies of my life. Napoleon Dynamite. Boy, did that suck. I feel dumber. And why did it have to be in Idaho? Couldn't it have been set in Oregon? Some people loved it and have seen it numerous times, it even received a mention at the Cannes Film Festival. Boy, it is the suckiest suck suck that ever sucked. Well, besides Beloved, Random Hearts, and Scary Movie.
