And there you have The Facts of Life, The Facts of Life. You're welcome for the song.
I called my mother yesterday and learned that my sister and younger brother are employed -- woo-hoo! My sister is working for an organization that helps those with cerebral palsy. She takes them on outings and has had the job for about 8 months. After being unemployed for about 5 years, this is wonderful! And my brother is starting Monday at a musical instrument warehouse. He hopes to one day work his way up to the showroom's drum section. Ahh, the dreams of the youth. Apparently they are also sharing an apartment. Sister, brother, his wife and 2 year old. Cozy. My mom said that my niece isn't talking yet. She has time. I didn't talk until I was 3.
After that happy news came the bad. I called a friend that I hadn't heard from in a few months. She had torn her retina and needed surgery while on vacation in England. Then tore it again right as she was stepping onto a plane to New York for a tradeshow. Then they went for their physicals and her husbands PSA were elevated. Yup, prostate cancer. Dealing with his treatment (his prognosis is good), they decided that they should be near family. London is too expensive to move back near their daughter there so they bought a house and are moving next month to Des Moines to be with their other daughter and her family. And their cat of 17 years died. And his boss and is getting a divorce, after having cheated on his wife who still works in the office and is taking him to the cleaners. He gave her $100,000 and she blew it on paintings, furniture, and clothes! I say the business is not long for this world.
