Legal Action My Foot

I guess the car noises were all in my head because the mechanic couldn't find anything. All the way down to the valley on Wednesday I was worried. Of course, on the way back I was too pissed at the would-be tenant to notice. He didn't hear weird noises and he said that the belts looked fairly new so I guess I'm OK. I dropped off the car, walked home and changed, checked my messages and received a completely nasty, ranting message from some woman saying that she's tried to contact me on behalf of the neighbors of a tenant for the past three months (there's a tree hanging over their yard), that it's my responsibility to contact the owner and that if it's not taken care of by Monday morning, then they'll take legal action because they already have the papers drawn up. Yeah, right. Like some lawyer is calling on her behalf and yelling into my machine, not leaving a name or a phone number.

I walked back over to my car, went to the fair, and then went home and sat down to write a letter. I thought this was taken care of when I told them to cut it. It's on your property, you are fully within your rights to cut it. I looked at the tree and it's not huge (ie doesn't require a pro) and it looks like in the past it was trimmed in a similar fashion, right up the property line. I sent a nice, calm letter to the neighbor (I'm assuming she was the one to leave the message) stating my concern over the threatening phone call from an anonymous woman claiming to be calling on her behalf. I stated that I thought the problem was taken care of when I told her she had the owner's permission, upon consultation with his attorney, to cut the part of the tree on her property. Again, I stated that the matter was closed, but if she had any questions she could call me. I was sweet as pie. When all I wanted to do was open a can on her ass.

In other news, the fair was fun. I met up with a co-worker and her kids. I ate at the booth that raises money for her kid's hockey team (hamburger and strawberry shortcake) and then we walked around the animals and watched her kids (5 and 8) go on a few rides. It was really fun. I didn't even think about the idiot woman and her tree.

Tonight, I'm playing nanny and going with Michelle, one of her puppies (bloodhound) and her friend and one of her friend's puppies (St Bernard) to a dog show. I get to watch her kid so I guess I'll have drool coming at me from three directions. It was supposed to be tomorrow, but we would have had to leave at 5:00am so instead we're going to spend the night somewhere near the show. Hmmm, a baby, two puppies, and three women...what are the chances of sleep? We'll probably get home about 9:00 Saturday night. Good thing I can sleep in on Sunday. At least, I think I can...I have to come into work and Michelle mentioned going for a horseback ride -- you know I can't pass that up.
