Original Verdict Still Stands

Boston sucks.

The way there was OK, barely caught my connecting flight in Seattle. Some people from the university were on it, only one row ahead. Luckily too far away to talk. I was in the middle seat, ugh, stuck between two fairly good looking, but uncommunicative, guys. I thought for sure that my co-workers were going to wait for me to get off the plane, I was only about 5 people behind them, but they didn't. Woo-hoo! Now I have the excuse not to be social with them (two of them are OK, but one gets on my nerves). I saw them a little ways ahead of me going towards baggage claim, but, since I carried on my luggage and they didn't see me, I went out to the taxi stand, immediately checked in at the conference table and went to dinner.

After I ate (and drank a margarita), I walked through the mall attached to the hotel and there they were. They said that I got off the plane quickly and was gone. Umm, they got off first, but I didn't correct them. Whatevah, it worked to my advantage. They said they were going to dinner, but, alas, I had already eaten. They were even at a different hotel. I was luck-y.

The next day, I just caught glimpses of them even though they were in the same sessions. The one I don't like saw me when I skipped out an hour early the first day to go to the Boston Beer Works (drank a Fenway American Pale Ale and bought a shirt to prove it). I knew she was going to make a big deal of it so the next morning I found them before sessions and sat with them. I told the one I like that I hadn't been feeling well so that afternoon when the hated one got it worked into a conversation to mention that I had skipped out, I was covered. They asked if I had any plans for dinner and I said that, if I was feeling well, I was going to take the T (subway) to Fanueil Hall. I didn't ask them to come and they didn't ask to go. They had an early morning flight anyway and mine wasn't until the evening. I took the T to Boston Common and walked the Freedom Trail up to Fanueil Hall and Quincy Market. Got some gelato and walked around for a bit before heading back. In DC, the subway is laid out so much better. With The Metro, you come up at the same place that you go down. Not so much with the T. I got off at the correct stop, but had no idea where I was. Of course it was getting dark with wind gusts. It did put me out at the church where Samuel Adams attended. Unfortunately, it was too dark inside to take a picture. The wood work was amazing. After coming out of the church, I walked around until I found out kinda where I was and was able to wind my way through the labyrinth of malls back to the hotel.

To be continued...
