Yes, Virginia...

All week I've been having little annoyances: weak car battery, back twinge after shoveling the latest 7" of snow, two household light bulbs going out, one string of Christmas lights in the window deciding this was the last season, over cooking the toffee, seizing the chocolate in the fudge, the store discontinuing the gift I wanted for a friend, and problems with my satellite television service.

On Monday, I got a new battery, last night, I made fudge that turned out, and called tech support for the tv. They said to wait and call back in three hours, I called my dad to tell him that Christmas may be at his house this year. I called tech support back, and got a different person, of course, who told me something completely different than the first person. I finally gave up and went to bed. This morning, after shoveling the walk (only about an inch), I got out the ladder and checked out the satellite. Ta-da! I single handedly -- ok, it took two -- saved Christmas. I called my dad to tell him that contrary to popular belief, Christmas is not canceled, that this is the year that I saved Christmas, and yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus. I have experienced a Christmas miracle.

Happy holidays!
