Call Collect My Foot

The right side of my mouth is still tender. The woman at the oral surgeon's office said that it would probably be a couple of weeks for the right side to heal, but the left side it just about finished.

I went to the pancake breakfast at the fire station on Saturday morning and managed to eat. Albeit slowly.

I had left a message for my mother a couple of weeks ago telling her that my cat died and I was having my wisdom teeth out (no relation). Her husband called me back and left a message: "This is T___ S___, as in R____ and T____ S____, as in your mom and T_____, as in your stepfather." Umm, yeah, got it, thanks.

He said that she was in Texas (I knew that), and that I should call him if I needed anything and he was sorry about my cat, blah, blah, blah. His message lasted forever. It was nice of him, I suppose. Then he said, again, to call him if I needed anything and to call collect. Hello! I'm not my sister (or brothers, for that matter), I can afford a frickin' long distance phone call. OK, maybe I was a little too emotional. Anyway, she called me this weekend. She'd been home for four days before she called to check on me? Hey, I had surgey! How about a little checking up on me? It was my first surgery ever, for Pete's sake.

I bought a bunch of stuff at the dollar store this weekend. I am just about all set for Michelle's shower. Too bad I have to wait another five weeks. I tell you, I am so ready for this shower. And it's even at my house. I've learned my lesson and there will be background music. I'm so horrible at throwing parties. Michelle offered to help, but I'm not going to let her since it is for her. I know a few of the guests well enough to recruit help if I need to.

One of the staff at work told me that she's pregnant. Unfortunately, it's one of the competant ones so it's going to be a pain when she's on maternity leave, but I don't have to worry about that until next Summer. Hmm, she'll be on maternity leave when it's time for me to do her annual evaluation.
