It was a very productive weekend. My dad came down and we looked at some property since he has the building bug and we fixed up a couple of rentals in the valley. I even got a few birthday presents, man, it's a good thing that I would never open them before my birthday. I wish that I didn't have to wait another 9 days to open them...
My dad came down on Friday and when I talked to him on Thursday he was a little snot. I was worried that I'd have to kick him out of the house this weekend if he didn't shape up. Or at least swap him for two goldfish. But, he was fine, no crankiness. We raked the leaves and took them to the recycling center (oh, how ecologically sound of me) and put up a shelf upstairs for my stereo since having it on top of a cabinet on the floor made it shake too much when I was on the treadmill and it would skip through one track and then not play the next. It's all fixed now that it's off the floor. I'm going up to my dad's over Thanksgiving and I've decided to (finally) make a bookshelf. It will be nice to unbox all of my books now that I've lived here for over two years.
I made a Schwan's turkey breast last night. It was pretty good and it even tasted a little Thanksgiving-y. All you do is cut a couple of slits, throw it in a pan with some water and leave it for about 3 hours and it cooks as if by magic and even makes gravy. The problem comes in the clean-up, it certainly made a mess out of the pan.
OK, I'll come clean, so maybe I opened one present and it was "The Day I Swapped My Dad for Two Goldfish" which is a very cute book, by the way.
OK, and maybe I opened another box from Amazon, but I won't watch "Arsenic and Old Lace" or read the other book until my birthday...unless there's nothing on TV. I also got a peanut M&M ornament and ink cartridges. I had to use the black cartridge because I was out.
