There's a new coffee shop opening in town, co-owned by a faculty member in the department. They're having a little open house today with free drinks to train their employees. I met Michelle (and her husband who was the contractor, her parents, her brother, and the baby) over there and the inside is very nice, but the hot chocolate tasted like chocolate water and the ice water is straight from the Moscow tap -- meaning it tastes icky. I guess the success depends upon what the coffee tastes like and since I don't like coffee, I can only hope, for the owners' sakes that that it's good.
I came into work to retrieve the bookstore gift certificate that my boss got me for Christmas. I'm finally going to cash that baby in.
Thanks to the jazz festival, I can't walk two feet without wanting to strangle some mindless teenager who gets in my way...good thing I don't drink coffee, that caffeine would have to be my defense for the momentary lapse in judgment of acting on those feelings.
I'm going to walk back downtown and perhaps stop by the tri-tip stand for lunch on my way to the bookstore.
