Lemon Bars

Last night we had the first brainstorming meeting for the grant renewal proposal. It went well. The bossman was 20 minutes late, but whatever. Two hours of comp time that I took this morning to clean and do paperwork before my dad arrives. He's coming down to look at prospective rental houses now that one of his sold -- and for his birthday. I made a chocolate cake with chocolate fudge frosting. I was going to make a lemon cake with raspberry filling, but the meeting ran too long so I didn't have time. His present is supposed to arrive today. I hope it does, but since tomorrow is his birthday, I guess it doesn't matter if it's a day late. I'm excited that we get to go out to dinner and try a place about which I've heard good things.

Our renewal meeting was held, and will continue to be held, at the new coffee shop. I forced myself to have a lemon bar. One of the owner's is in our group so I had to get something, you know, just to be polite. I was just complaining that we can't get real bagels in town and I found out that the coffee shop overnights bagels from Brooklyn three days a week. Also, he told us that they're going to start selling draft beer to increase their profit margin. Apparently it's so cheap that they'd make a lot of money. He started to say 18 cents a pint, I don't know if that's true or just a figure that popped into his head, but I don't want to order a draft beer anywhere anymore.
