Wrong Word

I called my cousin yesterday at lunch; calling her at lunch would mean I'd have the excuse to end the call. No ulterior motive. Just feeling her age and contacting people she hasn't talked with in a long time.

This afternoon when I went home for lunch, there was a message on my machine from the power company asking me to call them back "to verify an incident at one of your rentals." That got me a wee bit excited. I'm picturing a huge gas explosion and a mushroom cloud over the former site of the triplex. Or a spark from an outlet creating a fire that slowly spreads to the entire building. They just wanted to verify the name of the people renting the place. OK, lady, let me explain the meaning of the word "incident".
