I hosted Michelle's baby shower on Saturday. All.by.myself. Two of her other friends were supposed to help, but both flaked. One of her friend's was supposed to come over and help me decorate. She called to say that she'd drop off the cake at 11:30 (the party was at 1:00) because she had to finish her Christmas shopping. So, I didn't decorate. Screw it, we don't need streamers. Besides, I was up at 5:30 cleaning, paranoid about people poking through my house.
I was trying to figure out how much I had spent, and it's probably over $200. Oops. That's over $22 per guest! Now I'm running through things in my mind and thinking of all of the practical things that I could have spent that money on. But everything did work out pretty well. Everyone left with a gift but I did forget to pass out the party favors that I spent a couple of hours on. I was just happy that everyone left. I had planned on two hours. It was three and a half.
On Sunday, after sleeping in, of course, I went to trudge around some property that my dad is interested in. Oh, my, the views on this piece of property are spectacular! Rolling hills, farm land, trees. Unfortunately, there aren't very means trees on the property itself, but he did mention transplanting some trees. He said he could always take some saplings from his property and maybe have a tree mover put a few large trees around the house that he'd build to add some privacy. That would actually be pretty cool. I've seen them on TV.
