Small World

My dad and I went to the home and yard show in Spokane this weekend. I wore my UCSB sweatshirt and one of the vendors flagged us down. She said she was born and raised in Santa Barbara and lived there for 20-something years. I told her that I did as well. She asked where I went to high school and I told her, then, after asking how old I was, she started throwing out names that I didn't know. She threw out one that my dad thought he recognized and asked her if that person was any relation to a person he knew. The woman said yes and did he know the family? He said the name of the family member that he went to school with and then she said, "Then we went to school together! Santa Barbara High, class of '63!" They didn't know each other but he knew the people she hung out with and vice versa. Weird.

I've been meaning to go buy a new pair or two of jeans before my Seattle trip since I'm pretty much down to one. Then I thought, What the hell are you doing, you don't go shopping before Seattle, you go shopping in Seattle! So now I'm looking up malls and store locations. The disappointment is that I'm not getting as much tax money back as I'd thought so I have to cut out a few of the things I was going to do in the city. But, jean shopping is a necessity so it shouldn't fall under the splurge expenses.
