I am usually so bored at most of the science updates during the Tuesday meetings and today...was no exception. I was an English major for crying out loud! What in the hell are TrfA and orfE?!
I had a college Safety Committee meeting this morning. It was pretty much a bitch session and throwing up of the hands, eh, we've done what we can with limited human and financial resources (and mental capacities in some cases).
I ran home before the lunch science meeting so I could mow my lawn. I got my lawnmower back from the shop on Thursday so I mowed the back yard after work on Friday. I couldn't get to the front so I went home yesterday at lunch to mow it and my mower wouldn't start. Umm, excuse me, I just paid $55 for it to work and had expected that to be more than once. Not to mention that I was without it for over two weeks during peak growing season and had to call them to remind them that they had it. Whatevah. My dad dropped off his mower this morning so I ran home before my meeting to mow. I actually had to do the back again since it grows at twice the rate of the front.
Tonight I get to go down to the valley to rent out an apartment which means a trip to Costco to fill up on gas. Gas climbed to $3.19 yesterday. I know, I know, it's a lot worse in other places. And horribly worse in other countries.
On Saturday, my dad came by to install my water heater, which was a Christmas gift from him and my grandfather and has been sitting in my garage for four months. And it works! The past three mornings, I have had consistently hot showers...no need to run the water for a few minutes and then wait 15 more minutes for the water to heat, no more rushing through showering in order to have some warmish water left to shave my legs. Ahhhhh. Yay, me!
I've decided to have a brunch, but the only weekend when most people can come is the weekend of the car show in Sandpoint. That means I'll have to organize the hell out of it since instead of cleaning and farmer's market the Saturday before, I'll have to leave early and drive to Sandpoint. Oh bother. I just had the thought today of inviting Seattle friends (sorry), but of course, the car show puts a crimp in those plans.
I had the brilliant idea of serving Bellinis. I ordered the wine and went to order the white peach puree, however, one place was insanely expensive and the other was having server problems. So, I've decided on a white wine sangria. I tried out a recipe this weekend that was terrific so now I can't wait. I couldn't stop the Italian sparkling wine so I guess I'll have to have Bellinis another time. Darn.
