I was sucked in by a commercial. There are a series of commercials for adoption that are pretty funny. The only one I can remember at the moment has a woman vacuuming and then two kids come up behind her so she turns to them and one asks about a missing hamster and then you hear the vacuum suck up the hamster. The tagline is something about not having to be the perfect parent to adopt kids.
I went to the site. What was I thinking? There are a few sad cases on there. One set of brothers with some kind of disabilities who need a home since the foster parents adopted their three other siblings but think "they'd be better off in a home that is more suitable to their disabilities." Also, some of those kids will probably have a harder time getting adopted because they have stupid names.
However, I found the perfect kids for me. A 13 year old girl (who finds humor in everything) and her 5 year old brother (who loves Spiderman and pizza). Every once in a while I'll get online and check out adoption procedures. Lots of red tape, even more considering they're in a different state.
Of course, I'm too much of a financial worrier to do anything. I hope they find a good home.
