I got an email today from a friend of a friend who is participating in the local Relay for Life, a cancer fighting fundraiser. She was asking for donations -- I have several problems.
1) It's this weekend and she's just now soliciting donations.
2) I just made my quarterly charitable donation yesterday and it was to a friend of a friend who's doing the 3 day walk in Seattle for the second year in a row. Umm, relay with 10 team members indoors for 15 hours or walking 60 miles in three days outdoors...I think the other deserves my money more.
3) For the 3 day, the person has to raise $2200 and this relay person only pledged to raise $500 (a couple of her team members only pledged to raise $100). Kinda wimpy.
Especially since:
4) She told me when she decided to do this that raising the money wasn't the problem because all she had to do was ask her in-laws for the money and they'd give her the full amount.
Umm, excuse me? I don't see any reason to give her my money.
Anyway, I diplomatically explained that I'd just made my quarterly charitable contribution yesterday, but I'd put her on the list for next year's first quarter. I may forget to do that. How charitable of me. It is probably compounded by the fact that I'm not too fond of the woman personally. I'm a big enough person to admit that.

Oh hey! I'm pretty sure I know who you're talking about with regards to the 3-day!
You rock, m'dear.
Yes, yes you do know. So worth the money.
