Poor Clementine is disappointed and sad. WAK called her (drunk) yesterday and broke things off. Apparently he's not over some chic from high school so he said it wasn't fair to Clem to continue seeing her. She felt that it was rather sudden since they hung out on Friday and Saturday and then she gets his drunk phone call on Sunday. It doesn't surprise me that he was drunk, from what I understand, he's painfully shy and I would imagine that he needed the liquid courage. She said that it would be nice if he could have done it sober. Oh well. She's learning. I tried to send her flowers through her campus gift delivery, but it didn't work so I just added 10 bucks to her campus dining plan. She can go drown her sorrows in a Chipotle burrito.
I went up to Sandpoint to the car show on Saturday (and to buy my expensive paperweight) and on Sunday I met with some new house/dog sitting clients for this week and then went to a potluck to celebrate the acquisition of the "Big Grant." I also set up my automatic timer for the garden since outdoor irrigation permission started on Thursday.
I can't go to potlucks. I took a green bean dish (that I hated and everyone else tolerated) and white wine sangria -- I reserved a couple of glasses so I can't wait to go home tonight -- and all together it cost me 50 bucks! Holy crap. Since the group hired someone to administer this one, I am no longer handling any of the work so they gave me an orchid. I'm currently taking bets on how long it's going to live.
At the party, I mentioned something about petsitting and an...unusual...woman later said that she wanted to talk to me about petsitting. It went something like this:
"Have you ever done ferrets?"
"No." [Ew]
"Well, they're exotic, but they're not hard. They're just like other pets and need attention."
"Hmm."
"And I have a cat."
"How many ferrets do you have?"
"Five."
"Oh" [I can practically smell them. You know, even if they're de-scented, they still emit a certain odor.]
"I have someone to pet sit, but it's nice to have a backup."
"Umm, yeah. Well, if you get in a pinch..." [I'll, unfortunately, have something else to do]
